Reasons To Road Trip Before Your 30’s

Your 30’s are around the corner and you’re trying to decide whether you should settle down or travel the world—or at least your home country. It can be a difficult decision to make, but it’s one that should be easy, once you take a look at the big picture. Traveling around in a campervan hire Australia is a great idea and there are many reasons why.

While many people will insist that you should travel when you’re older and retired, you may want to consider ignoring that advice and actually rent a campervan hire Australia. You only live once and there will be time to do all the things that you’re supposed to, when you’re older.

While many people will want to give you advice when you’re young, you shouldn’t always listen to it. At other times you should. For example, the following are some of the top reasons why you should road trip before your 30’s:

  • For many, the 30’s are a good time to settle down in one place and start building for their future. If you’re someone who wants to buy a home or do something concrete for your future in your 30s, the 20s are a good time to travel as much as you can. Once you have regular bills to pay or a life you’re setting up, it will definitely be a bit more challenging to get away for an extended period of time and hit the road like you can when you’re younger.

  • You can actually use your trip experiences in your career. While this may not be the case for just any career, many employers like to see life experience when hiring. Maybe you’re traveling with a purpose, such as to volunteer abroad or to do some research for something that you want to write. When it comes time to present your resume to a potential employer, you won’t be ashamed of the years that you spent traveling in your 20s.

  • You’ll enjoy some destinations more while you’re young. Some places are known as party places, but they are also beautiful places that are worth visiting. You’ll want to take advantage of your energy while you’re still in your 20s, while also getting to know new cultures or experiences. You’ll be able to party all night and get up to explore the next day, which isn’t something that those over 30 really feel like doing—at least not most of them.

  • If you don’t know what you want to do, travelling can help you find out. Perhaps you have yet to decide what you want to study. Maybe you just graduated and aren’t sure where or which type of job you really want to work in. You’re still defining the career path that you want to take. Travelling can help provide you with that ah-ha moment that you may be waiting for to make your decision. Road tripping throughout your country can help to give you an idea of what’s “out there,” so to speak, so you don’t just choose what everyone else may be doing back home.

  • You’re in great shape when you’re in your twenties. This isn’t always a hard and fast rule. A 30-something year old can be in terrific shape and a younger person can have terrible eating habits. Yet, if you’re a relatively healthy 20-something year old, you’re bound to have more energy now than you will when you get older. Having energy can go far when it comes to seeing new places. For example, what if you want to visit a national park that requires long hours of hiking? Or, you want to participate in extreme sports while visiting Canada in the winter? Older people can be energetic, but if you’re young and healthy, well, there’s nothing stopping you.

  • You can get away with more. It’s easy to excuse behavior when people are young and not so easy when they’re older. While you shouldn’t be doing illegal stuff while travelling or disrespecting cultures, you have more freedom to let go and enjoy yourself while young. It’s something that does go away when you’re older and wiser, so enjoy “the folly of youth” while you still can and get to know as many places and experiences and places as possible before you’re older.

Life is short, but there is still time for you to become stable and settle down. If you have yet to hit your 30s, don’t hold yourself back from taking a trip every now and then. You’ll most certainly be able to travel then, as well, but there’s nothing like enjoying the freedom of being young, footloose, and fancy free.

Whether you’re thinking of renting a campervan hire Australia and setting out to see iconic destinations like the Great Barrier Reef and Uluru, or you are pondering buying a ticket to see Europe for the summer, rest assured that now is the time to do it.
