Cookie Doh Co.

It is officially cuffing season – that period over winter where avid singletons find themselves in the throes of a serious relationship to help ease the freezer burn of the cooler months. With spring fast approaching, however, many Aussies loosen the emotional ties in favour of new beginnings: both in life and love.

According to a comprehensive online study of over 10,000 Facebook statuses, British journalist and author of The Visual Miscellaneum, David McCandless, found two major spikes on the love calendar for breakups. Presented at TED Talks, McCandless confirmed these periods to include Valentine’s Day [ouch!] and the weeks leading up to spring.

As the weather gets warmer, McCandless suggests that Facebook users turn to offline social activities to occupy their time instead of a partner. This greater appreciation for the unknown fosters a network of social connections which in turn reduces any apprehension associated with ending a loving relationship.

In light of Facebook's looming 'spring clean', Cookie Doh Co. today releases a limited edition – and extra sweet – Heartberry & White Chocolate edible cookie dough flavour to help mend the broken hearts of Australia. Combining sweet and tarty raspberries with velvety Belgian white chocolate and edible candy heart pieces, this latest flavour addition was created to comfort negative emotional states following a breakup and offer a visually stimulating nod to self love and happiness through vibrant red hues.

Further to McCandless’ findings, researchers from Cornell University published a recent article in science journal, Appetite, which concluded that negative emotional experiences, such as heartbreak, sour the physical taste profiles of food; and as such, highlights a need for sweet, palatable and energy-dense treats to improve state of mind and compensate for the temporary change in taste association.

“Cookie Doh Co. is always trying to pioneer the category and offer new and exciting options for our customers. The release of Heartberry & White Chocolate is a topical addition to our winter and spring line-up and is our way of saying to all Australians, single or otherwise, we love you,” says Chris Reece, one of the finding directors of Cookie Doh Co.

Shipping Australia-wide and now offering gluten-free options, the eat anytime-anywhere treat is free from eggs and pasteurised substitutes and can sit unrefrigerated in ambient temperatures for up to 2 weeks, and up to 6 months when chilled in temperatures less than 4 degrees Celsius.
